Salafist Group adopts holding of six Westerners in Mali and Niger

Salafist Group for Preaching and Fight, belonging to Al Qaeda “GSPC” succeeded in realizing insecurity in the North African regions, while Algerian government succeeded Tuesday in ending the conflict between the Malian government and the Touareg rebels, represented by the Democratic Alliance for Change in the North of Mali.

• The Salafist Group “GSPC” adopted responsibility for the kidnapping of the special envoy of the UN in Niger, Canadian Diplomat Robert Fowler, and his assistant, former Ambassador of Canada in the state of Gabon, Louis Guy as well as his Nigerian chauffeur, Sumana Mukaila, while on a visit to the gold mine in the region of Samira, belonging to a Canadian company.

• “We, the Salafist Group of Preaching and Combat confirm responsibility for the abduction of four European tourists in Niger on the 14th of December. We will announce our demands and terms to release the hostages,” spokesman of the terrorist group, Salah Abou Mohamed said in an audio tape, aired by Al Jazeera.

• Latest signs indicate that the Canadian diplomats are still alive, until the beginning of February, when the kidnappers sent a video tape showing their hostages to Canada, as reported by sources close to the Malian authorities which is to investigate on the kidnapping.

• This declaration came on the eve of the summit which will be hosted in the Malian capital Bamako Thursday. President of the African coastal countries will attend this meeting in order to discuss the security situation of the region which has become a dangerous area because of terrorism.

• Various countries including the USA found opportunity to justify its presence in the region, saying “We have to exterminate Al Qaeda on its territories”.

• Algeria, Libya, Mali, Niger, Chad and Burkina Faso to attend this summit and try to find solutions which may result a peaceful region and more development as well as ending the regional conflicts and the ugly crimes by the Salafist Group.
