Salafist Group’s leader kills his fellows willing to surrender

Salafist Group’s leader kills his fellows willing to surrender
Abdelmalek Drudkel, leader of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (ex-Salafist Group)

The 30-year-old suicide attack which targeted a police station Sunday in Tizi Ouzou province (100 km east of Algiers) was accompanied by 3 people, according to witnesses.

  •  After praying in a mosque nearby the police station, the 3 men went alone on his car to carry out the attack.
  • The suicide bomber tried to escape from his vehicle shortly before detonation. “It is likely that the bomb was remotely controlled,” said the same source.

  •
  •  Security investigators in suicide attacks in Algeria found remote controllers in most car bombs including the one which targeted the Government’s Palace led by Merouane Boudina ( Muad Ben Djabal).
  •
  • Investigators said terrorists took these “preventive” measures” to thwart any attempt from suicide bombers to escape. The suicide bombers were accompanied by “trusty” terrorists until the very last moments before the attack.
  •
  • Preliminary investigations do not rule out the idea that Tizi Ouzou’s suicide bomber would have been manipulated after being told that he had just to park the car there and not to blow himself up and. His attempt to escape proves that.
  •
  • Is it 1995 Tizi Ouzou scenario reiteration?
  •
  • According to arrested terrorists, Droudkel (their leader) has imposed an internal blockade on his elements especially the newly recruited ones. He prevented them from contacting their families or moving without “dawn patrol.”  Because of that, “liquidation” of those elements in suicide attacks remains possible.
  • Corroborating testimonies said the suicide bomber who targeted a police station in Algiers in 1995 had no idea that it would be remotely detonated.
