Sami Al-Hadj soon in Algeria to support Echorouk solidarity contest

Al Jazeera channel cameraman Sami El Hadj who has recently been released from the US Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba surprised Echorouk newspaper staff when he called from Doha in Qatar to thank journalists and the newspaper for their solidarity with him.

• In a phone call with Echorouk’s Chief Editor, he said he was excited when he read about his issue in the newspaper especially the international symposium which had been organized by Echorouk many political and historical figures calling for his release.

• Sami El Hajd said: “I will never forget Echorouk’s position besides me. I have already been surprised. I have never imagined this scale of solidarity with my issue in Algeria. I thank all the newspaper’s staff which was completely ready for the one million signature campaign.”
• He added that this is one of the Algerians’ qualities who always teach people in all over the world meanings of freedom and revolution.

• Sami El Hadj, who was deeply excited when he saw that his pictures are still lined on the walls of the newspaper’s news room, confirmed that he would be present in Algiers next month.
•  He will be a guest at Echorouk’s solidarity party on the fifth of July 2008. He expressed his optimism because it will take place in the same date of the Algerian independence festival, as well as the opportunity to serve even with simplest things this country’s people through supporting solidarity for the Algerian children.
•  Additionally, it will be an opportunity to thank all those who supported him in his crisis especially Echorouk newspaper’s staff.
• The most famous prisoner ever in the shameful Guantanamo dentention camp confirmed that he had found solace in the international solidarity since the first time he was arrest in spite of difficult times he spent there.
• For his part, Dr. Fawzi Ousadik president of the international committee for Sami’s defence told Echorouk that they are thinking to found Sami El Hadj’s solidarity organization meant for demanding the closure of  Guantanamo detention camp and every secret prison in the world.

• Ouseddik said they will announce it in Algeria on the visit of Sami al-Hadj. This institution will comprise wide global institutions which had stood by Sami especially Echorouk newspaper.

• Algerian Fawzi Ousadik who is one of the important lawmen in the Middle East and a candidate for managing and conducting this institution helped to make the success of the one million signature campaign.
• He visited at least 70 countries in the world to defend Sami’s issue and asked for the closure of the detention. Yet, the first demand only was met pending to achieve the second.
