The recently-held symposium on the life and political itinerary of late Algerian President Chadli Bendjedid has not lived up to the participants’ expectations owing to a faulty and failing organization which marred this salient get-together.

The time allotted to speeches on the topics of the symposium was not abided by in addition to other untoward hitches linked to gross delays in the arrival of official delegations with on focus the belated arrival at the conference hall of the fisheries minister who was awaited for a long time by all those in attendance to give the official kick-off to the symposium.

Several old War Veterans or Mujahidine of the glorious November Revolution, who were invited by the organizers of this symposium to bring their still vivid testimonies on the Chadli Bendjedid era and his past revolutionary itinerary, were gripped by extreme tiredness because of such long-drawn out delays.

The proceedings of the symposium were marked by a hubbub and a disorderly atmosphere with no official moderator being appointed by the organizers with a view to orienting and streamlining the various delegates who were all at sea on account of the prevailing confusion and disarray.

Several participants were compelled unwittingly to quit the conference hall ahead of time because the audience was thrown into utter confusion.

Only two lectures passed off a bit normally including that of Doctor MahieddineAmimour and that of the writer of Chadli Bendjedid’s memoirs, namely AbdellazizBoubakir, who shed light in their speeches on the late Algerian President’s political landmarks at the helm of the nation after coming into office in 1979.

Mr Boubakir told Echorouk on the sidelines of the symposium that the second edition of Chadli Bendjedid’smemoirs was almost ready and will be available on the book market in the very near future.
