Security apparatus beefed up in troubled Beriane in Algeria's south

Knifes, swords, iron bars and stones were used in runaway clashes between rival groups.

Latest reports speak of a renewed flare up of inter community violence in Kaf Hamouda loca lity near Beriane in the south of Algeria causing at least 26 injured.

Most of the wounded were rushed to a nearby hospital suffering from severe injuries.

Knifes, swords, iron bars and stones were used in runaway clashes between rival groups living in the locality of Kaf Hamouda where the situation has again reached a flash points.

Numerous public buildings as well as shops, houses, and schools were attacked by groups of rioters who went on the rampage. Many cars were also set ablaze in the troubled area.

 In an attempt to restore law and order, the government has decided to bolster the security apparatus in and around the town of Beriane with notably the deployment there of troops of the national popular army backed by helicopters.
