Security authorities: Illegal immigration declines in Algeria
Security authorities, including coast guards, as well as gendarmerie units and teams noticed a significant decline in the phenomenon of illegal immigration by dozens of young people towards both west of Spain and east of Italy, starting from many points of the Algerian coast.

January and February 2009 recorded no case of illegal immigration, compared to the same period of the two last years, when security authorities recorded many attempts of illegal immigrations and arrested dozens of young male and female.

Security reports said the cause behind this decline is the enhancement security measures which were imposed by the general command of the Algerian naval forces, through monitoring any movement by illegal immigrants.
