Security File: intensified military operations

Corroborating sources say that the security services have rounded up 3 people suspected of involvement in the planning of last Wednesday’s suicide bombing against a Gendarmerie high school in Les Issers in eastern Boumerdes province.

• The 3 arrested individuals, who hail from the nearly town of Thenia, are suspected of having delivered the vehicle which was used in the terrorist bombing.
• -Terrorist hide – outs destroyed in Boumerdes Mountains.
• It’s been announced that forces of the National Popular Army backed by helicopter gunships have destroyed several hide – outs used by terrorist groups in the mountainous area of Taourga near Baghlia locality in Boumerdes province.
• A large – scale anti – terrorist combing operation is still underway in the region.
•  -Search for 3 people reported missing in Bechar in connection with Les Issers bombing.
• 4 victims of last Tuesday’s terrorist bomb attack on a Gendarmerie high school of Les Issers, were buried on Saturday in Bechar in the presence of their families and a large crowd of mourners.
• Meanwhile, families of 3 other Bechari youngsters, also believed to have been killed in the cowardly terrorist bombing, are still waiting to recover the bodies from the Alia mortuary in Algiers.
• -ANP forces foil a terrorist bombing in Tizi Ouzou province.
• The combined forces of the National Popular Army succeeded on Friday in thwarting a planned terrorist bombing on a road linking Tigzirt to Tizi Ouzou 120 km east of Algiers.
• The suicide bomber, belonging to the terrorist “Salafist group”, was eliminated on the spot, as he was driving a refrigerator lorry loaded with 5 tonnes of explosives.
• -Terrorists set up fake road-block in Saida.
• Reliable sources told Echorouk that a terrorist group set up earlier this week a fake road-block in the Merdja area in Saida province triggering deep concern among the inhabitants of the region who fear a repetition of the bloody events of past years.
• In a reaction, the Army troops have launched a vast combing drive in the mountains and forests of Sidi Douama to track down the terrorists entrenched in the area.

• Forces of the National Popular Army shot dead on Friday night a terrorist and recovered a weapon which was in his possession.
• The terrorist was eliminated during a prolonged shoot – out between ANP troops and a terrorist group in the area of Asserdoune in Milia municipality, about 65 km east of Jijel.
• -Bomb blast in Tebessa.
• A bomb planted by terrorist in the locality of El Khanig, about 40 km south of the eastern city of Tebessa, exploded on Friday but caused no casualties and no material damage.
• The explosive device went off when a passing tractor hit it with one of its rear wheels.
• -A family from Mascara awaits the identification of their son.
• “Echorouk Al Yaoumi” has learnt that the “Sabhi” family in the western province of Mascara, who have lost their son in last Tuesday’s Les Issers terrorist bombing, are still awaiting the handing over of the body for burial.
• The young victim was about to join the ranks of the National Gendarmerie forces but the terrorist lunacy mowed him down savagely.
