Security forces foil suicide attacks plan in eastern Algeria
Security forces arrested a large number of activists in terror support cells in the province of Skikda (east of Algeria), ten days after dangerous terrorist Abu Abdellah had surrendered and informed the national army about planned suicide attacks on sensitive facilities.
The supposed attack would have been carried out by recruits of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb. The arrested terrorist who joined the Islamic Armed Group (GIA) in 1996 said terrorist groups in eastern Algeria work together with Tunisian elements who planned to smuggle military and war weapons.
Security forces seized more than 45 weapons which were carried by a drug smuggler in the province of Annaba (east of Algeria). Three Tunisian nationals and three Algerians were arrested for working with the terrorist groups.
