Security forces threatened to death while performing their duties

While performing their duty, members of the security services are facing a lot of difficulties caused by the uncivilized behaviours of some citizens who physically threaten these elements especially in the check points, refusing to obey to orders.

• Members of the national gendarmerie are confronted to all kinds of insults from road users while customs agents face physical threats and even murders during their mission on the borders.
• According to judicial sources, the number of cases soared dramatically over the last few years; most of them linked to mistreatment and physical assault on the security agents.
• A police officer raised another case in relation to the fight against drug dealers, explaining that these criminals usually harm themselves while trying to runaway from the security forces, but find means to lodge complaints against them accusing them of torture and beating.
• One of the means, according to the same source, found by the dealers to escape security agents, is the use of well trained dogs to intimidate them.
• Other police agents declared that the source of this tension between citizens and security forces is due to the misinterpretation of the task assigned to security elements; “We are only enforcing law, we do not determine their sort” they said.
