The security plan that has been implemented by the joint security forces since the beginning of the summer season has considerably reduced the terrorist activities in the region of Jijel, eastern Algeria, especially after tightening the grip on the terrorist groups in the wake of the criminal act that killed three gendarme officers in the region.

  • The combing operations which have been carried out by the security forces in most the major highways and night patrolling to set ambushes for the terrorists has limited their activities in the isolated areas where they used to force the local inhabitants to supply them with foodstuffs.

  • Several terrorists have been eliminated by the security forces recently in the forest areas, while another criminal was killed in an ambush set by the military troops forcing the terrorists to reconsider their plans, Echorok has learnt.

  • The same sources added that the breakthrough registered in the fight against terrorism was the result of a close collaboration between the different security corps and the intelligence collected during their investigations in addition to the revelations made by the repentant.

  • The terrorists were compelled to change their strategy and resorted to reduce their movements into three or five elements at maximum for each group to avoid further loses among their ranks, it said.

  • More than 20 terrorist have been eliminated by the security forces and more than 40 caches were destroyed over a year period, security sources have revealed.
