Security investigation: Terrorists use summer camps to recruit  Algerian youngsters

Security investigations show that some Algerian youngsters who try to join terrorist groups have received the idea in a school for learning Koran in Adrar, South of Algeria.

 

 

 

  • Those Algerian youngsters met in a summer camps in Tipaza, west of Algiers, where security services tighten control on some religious and entertainment places, which become a fertile ground for disseminating terrorist ideas.

  • According to Echorouk sources, the judicial authorities in Algiers are investigating on a file related to joining a terrorist group that aims to spread murder and terrorism, through recruiting young people.

  • Algerian security services launched investigation after receiving information about the readiness of a group of youngsters, including repentant terrorists and others returning from Iraq in order to join terrorist groups, specifically the Corps of the so-called “Abu Bakr Assedik” battalion in Boumerdes, east of Algiers.

  • Security services found that fine of them were able to join a terrorist group since Ramadan 2009.
  • Security investigation with an accused “B.B” started in 2008 on charges of praising terrorism, and who joined “Al Faruq” battalion, where he met six youngsters between 27 and 38 years from Berraki, Sidi Moussa and Kalitous, east of Algiers, including the so called “Djelbib”, and who were planning to join “Assedik” battalion, as security investigation found that they planned to join terrorist groups out of a school for learning Koran in Adrar, south of Algeria.

  • Those youngsters stated that the preparation for joining terrorist groups was secret and recognized that they held many meetings to develop the idea of joining terrorism.

  • Meeting were held in summer camps in Tipaza, where they remained nearly 20 days of July 2007, and recruited some youngsters.

  • Algiers criminal court is expected to address this file during its next session.
