Security road patrols ordered to be lenient with Algerian, foreign motorists visiting Algiers

The services of the National Police and Gendarmerie have been given instructions to deal with moderation and leniency with all Algerian and foreign motorists who come to Algiers for a tourist visit.

  • The move concerns all the foreign tourists as well as the members of the Algerian community settled abroad in addition to all the Algerian visitors hailing from other provinces of the country.
  • Policemen and Gendarmes on duty on the roads of the capital have been told to use wisdom and be lenient with these “foreign” visitors in case of a breach of the Highway Code in a bid not to mar their vacations in Algiers by imposing on them punitive fines and sanctions.
  • The move has been warmly received by all the foreign motorists using the roads of greater Algiers.
