Security services foil attempt to smuggle 60 illegal immigrants in a container
Services of the border police at Algiers port foiled a plan to smuggle 60 illegal immigrants, to different European countries, for sums of money that reach up to 200.000 dinars per person, and arrested six illegal immigrants who were in a container on board of Al Yakout boat, heading to the city of Valencia.
The prosecutor of Sidi Mhammed court referred a dock at Algiers port who was implicated with a driver and owner of a truck and container where illegal immigrants were hided by a secret cell for smuggling people.
The case, according to what was revealed by security services to Echorouk, Back to Friday at about 23:00 pm, as information reached the border police of Algiers port, about the existence of a secret cell specialized in smuggling illegal immigrants, which activity extend inside the port, and which transfers youth to European countries.
In the framework of performing its monitoring mission, which is smuggling six illegal immigrants, who came from different neighborhoods in Algiers, like Bab Eloued, Harrache and Bordj El Kifane, aging between 20 and 25 years, and who were inside a container on board of Al Yakout boat with Panama flag.
During the investigation with the arrested, it was discovered that they were heading to Valencia, and that they paid 200.000 dinars, to a cell specialized in smuggling people to European countries. Therefore, services of border police arrested a driver and owner of the truck container, as it was also found that the elements of the cell are also active in Algiers port, where they support the operation of transferring the illegal immigrants.
Investigations with the arrested, the driver and owner of the truck revealed that the people who are active among a secret cell for smuggling persons, prepared a plan to smuggle over 60 people, starting from Algiers port to various European countries, especially France and Spain.
