Sellal holds four ministers responsible for autumn rains consequence
Algeria’s Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal ordered ministers Dahou Ould Kablia, Hocine Nacib, Amara Benyouned and Abdelmadjid Teboune to mobolize for autumn and take a set of measures until the end of September.
Sellal gave an instruction to elimiante all sediments in hydrographic networks, clean sewer networks, keep watch on hydromecanic and electrical equipments and mobilize civil protection intervention teams.
Still, the instruction was not applied in a proper way. Recent rains caused « real desasters » and killed 6 people in a number of eastern provinces including Tebessa, Oum Bouaghi, Khenchela, Biskra and Msila.
Earlier in 2001, heavy rains killed 1,000 people in the area of Bab El Oued in Algiers and sewer networks were blocked.
« In order to reduce rains negative consequence, ministries should work with prefects and mayor to mobilize means, the State’s competences and local governments, » said the instruction.
