The Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal held intellectual elite responsible for pushing society toward despair as they just criticize without bearing their responsibilities.

Sellal Thursday said in a meeting with civil society in the province of Tlemecen that he is not satisfied about criticism policy of the intellectual elite which “should be present in the field in order to constitute a positive pressure. This will raise politicians, elected people and the administration’s productivity.”

“The government should reject old mentalities and lurking ideas which consider all the initiatives as failure. In Algeria, we are not the best but we are not the worst. We need to catch up the lost time and correct mistakes,” he added.

According to Sellal, Algerian people definitively settled their accounts with the black decade. “This enabled them to keep the country’s stability and its institutions strength.”

He also said current conditions are adequate for economic development as part of the Algerian authenticity.

He stressed the necessity of rejecting any differentiation between public and private sector because the most important thing is having Algerian successful institutions, improving its competitiveness ability, creating wealth and jobs.

Sellal also talked about improving business climate, easing procedures, legal, banking and tax organizations.

He believes that bureaucracy is the enemy of entrepreneurship and investment.

“I say to young people that they have opportunities in their country in housing, education and employment fields which are incomparable to many other countries. This has been achieved thanks to President Bouteflika,” he said.

Speaking about the “Tlemcen, the Capital of the Islamic culture” event, Sellal said the province emerged as Islamic culture and civilization center following many projects. “I hope that Constantine will have its chance as it will be the Capital of the Arab Culture in 2015 in order to achieve the same development.”
