Sheikh Ali Farkous: I Have Faced Terrorism And Saved Youngsters From Grip Of “Daesh”
Sheikh Ali Farkous’s Website said that the Sheikh’s sound intellectual knowledge has contributed significantly to the exclusion of the ideology of Takfiri extremism from contaminating the youth of Algeria, notably by dissuading young people from joining terrorist groups, unlike what occurred in other less fortunate neighboring Islamic countries.
Sheikh Farkous returned to face his “opponents” on the da’wah or religious preaching front in the aftermath of the recent bitter controversy, which broke out with the release of his contentious article “shedding light on the doctrine of the Sunnis as not belonging to the people of passions,” and which was regarded by many parties as an explicit call to atonement, after his viewed “exclusion” of large groups of Sunni Muslims from the circle of “Ahl al-Sunnah”.
In the new round of this “confrontation,” the website’s management published a lengthy article entitled “In response to the standing question:” What Dr. Ali Farkous presented to Algeria, “in which it gathered all the proven facts viewed by the Sheikh as most salutary to Algeria and its people.
“Regarding Salafism in general, and in line with the call of the Sheikh, May God protect him, the latter, it said, was keen to keep the ideology of Takfiri extremism far away from the youth of Algeria”.
His works included: “The honor of belonging to the doctrine of the Salaf and the aspects of separation with the so-called Salafist jihadist ideology” by sensitizing young people about not joining joining terror groups, unlike what unfolded woefully in other neighboring Islamic countries.
The website article also referred to the threats against the Sheikh from terrorist groups: “A testimony to history: Sheikh ‘Abd al-Mu’izz Mohamed Ali Ferkous, May God protect him, was threatened with death by armed groups during the years of terrorism and afterwards, but he has remained a dutiful “Mudjahid” in order to save those plagued by extremism, through his acute penmanship and his wide religious knowledge so as to establish the parameters of moderation and level-headedness in the country.”
It further affirmed that “Sheikh Farkous highly graduated from the Islamic University in Algeria, a feat which is not easy to attain for doctors and holders of high diplomas, including imams and practitioners of fatwas, adding that the Sheikh is known from his bona-fide scientific and strict moral behavior, with his high scientific degrees being worthy of merit and honor, excellence and scientific honesty, far from the false testimony purported by some “fake” doctors and their manifold likes unfortunately existing nowadays here and there”, it further stated.
The author of the article also underlined that Sheikh Ali Farkous “is one of the outstanding and humble religious figures of our time as he is most knowledgeable by giving his utmost for the benefit of his country, Algeria, without seeking any retribution or honors”.
