Sheikh Kaher:”ANSEJ loans Halal”
Chairman of the Supreme Islamic Fatwa Council Committee Sheikh Mohamed Cherif Kaher, said the loans from the National Agency for Youth Supporting and Employment “ANSEJ” are Halal.
“If we control the usury results we will be prevented eating and wages..we bless the government’s step to abolish usury and I assure youth that ANSEJ loans are Halal..”
*When the PM abolished 1% there was a jurisprudential debate between those who confirm that it is usury and those who analyse it, so what could you say?
**Let me start by blessing the government’s step because we usually declared that it necessary to abolish the usurious benefits, and we wished they asked us before the decision to include loans in order to make things clearer, as many of our youth avoided loans from ANSEJ in order not to commit Haram. I assure them that the usury accusation is now absent and they can start working.
*But the decision caused a large controversy, as some scholars and elders said that the usurious loan does not loose nature if other parties paid it, so what is the judgment in this case?
**This issue is clear, youth who use the ANSEJ will borrow a certain sum of money such as 100.000 dinars, and should return this loan after a period of time, so where is the usurious benefit?
