Smuggling attempt of 307 quintals of barley foiled in Algeria
The National Gendarmerie forces foiled an attempt to smuggle 307 quintals of barley in El Oued province (south-east of Algeria), lieutenant-colonel said Monday.

In presentation of the Gendarmerie’s activities assessment in El Oued, the lieutenant-colonel said 4 trucks loaded with barley intended to black market were seized in the first two weeks of December.

Previously, the Gendarmerie forces foiled a smuggling attempt of 10,118 bottles of wine including 3,266 bottles of red wine and 1,463 bottles of beer.

The same forces found 4.5 kg of drugs inside a cemetery in el Oued while a network of 4 persons was dismantled, according to the same source.

El Oued is located 620 km south east of Algiers near the Tunisian border. It lies about 20 kilometres south of Guemar Airport.
