Solidarity conference with Sahraoui people opens in Valencia

The proceedings of the 34th European conference of support for the Sahraoui people (EUCOCO) opened Friday evening in Valencia, in eastern Spain, in the presence of the President of the Sahraoui Arab Democratic Republic Mohamed Abdellaziz and representatives of numerous countries.

• Algeria is represented at this major international gathering by a large delegation, including the Algerian Ambassador in Spain Mohamed Hanneche, lawmakers, representatives of National organizations and those of the Algerian national committee of solidarity with the Sahraoui people.
• In his opening speech, the Sahraoui president denounced the policy pursued by Morocco which, he said, does not stop for undermining and torpedoing the United Nations’ action in favour of the Sahraoui people’s legitimate right to self – determination.
• The logjam policy waged by Morocco is being carried on, he went on to say, despite the formal signing by Rabat with the Polisario Front of the Houston accords as part of a UN – sponsored plan worked out in 1991 for a just and lasting settlement of the Western Sahara issue.
