Sonatrach, Bonatti sign power plant contract

Algeria’s energy group Sonatrach Monday said it signed a deal with Italy’s Bonatti Monday for the extension of a power plant in Adrar, south of Algeria.

“The contract worth 9.77 billion DZ will be achieved within 27 months,” said a statement posted on Sonatrach’s website.

Power generated from the extension of the power plant will meet energy needs of Sonatrach’s industrial centers and supply nearby people’s homes, the same statement said.

In 1999, Sonatrach awarded the first privately-funded power plant contract to Nuovo Pignone for the construction of a 330 MW gas turbine plant at Hassi Berkine.
