Sonatrach invests 8 billion dollars to boost Algeria's output of plastic and rubber

The General Manager of the 3rd international trade fair of plastic and rubber, now being held at the exhibition centre of Pins Maritimes on the eastern outskirts of Algiers, said Algeria's consumption of plastic products had reached one tonne per year.

He said that half of the plastic production had been achieved locally while the other half had been imported from Europe and Asia .

Said Irazi indicated that 1,000 Algerian firms were directly involved in the production of plastic and rubber adding that  Sonatrach was intent on boosting this sector of activity through the signing of new partnership contracts wilt foreign companies having the necessary technological know “ how and expertise.

He affirmed, in this connection, that Sonatrach had decided to invest a financial package of up to 8 billion dollars to give a fresh impetus to this industrial sector as part of a plan designed to hike, substantially, the national output of plastic and rubber to meet the country’s needs in the few coming years.
