Sonatrach scandal: officials have $3 million real-estates in US
An oil official’s family has more than $3 million of real-estates in New Jersey, Virginia and Washington, according to investigations on Algeria’s Sonatrach corruption scandal.
- Investigators found that there is a strong relation between hydrocarbures officials in Algeria and giant oil corporations built at the expenses of Sonatrach. New Jersey-based Clear Logic company owned by a 44-year-old Algerian man got tens of deals with Sonatrach thanks to family relations between him and an oil official.
- Investigators say an oil official’s cousin obtained $3 million real-estates in New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland and Washington with help of an Algerian businessman living in the US.
- According to the same source, an Anadarko official’s daughter obtained Sonatrach’s shares for free in 2007 with the help of a former Sonatrach official’s son.
- Investigations on belongings inventory and wrongdoings detection will come up with the determination of responsibilities. Suspects will be heard and the investigations will continue to summer, Echorouk has learnt.
