Sonatrach, StatoilHydro made 2008 first gas discovery in Algeria
Norway's StatoilHydro made the 2008’s first hydrocarbons discovery Tuesday in Algeria in association with Algeria's state-owned energy group Sonatrach, according to statement posted on Sonatrach’s website Tuesday.The gas was discovered at Bloc 321b in Hassi Mouina perimeter in Timimoun town (southwest of Algiers).
Tests showed a flow rate of 2,515 cubic metres per hour.
“This result confirms the gas potential of this perimeter where exploration works led since 2006 by Sonatrach- StatoilHydro association have already allowed making two discoveries in 2007,” said the statement.
