SONELGAS: Algiers Municipalities' Debts Reach 50 Billion DZD
National Company for the Distribution of Electricity and Gas “SONELGAZ” reveals on the rate of large money that it owed to the departments and institutions and public services, which did not pay their accumulating debts, and decides to launch a legal action that precedes cutting electricity and judicial follow up.
Debts of Sonelgas over the various institutions, departments, public and private services reach record numbers, as municipalities occupy the first rank.
A statement by the Distribution Directorate of Bouloghine (Algiers), which copy is available to Echorouk, said on Monday, that the uncollected debt ratio since years ago, for a number of Algiers municipalities, exceeded 50 billion DZD, which would negatively affect the financial situation of the company, and the embodiment of its projects that are relevant to improving the quality of service.
Parties which do not pay bills for electricity consumption are; different public administrations in the lead with debts exceeding 20 billion DZD, and the largest share belongs to municipalities by 7 billion DZD, and then ordinary services, at a time when the company emphasized the need for the success of the recovery of its debts, which came into force since the beginning of last September, by directing a series of demands for payment and a 15 days’ time limits, before the application of the procedure of cutting off electricity and gas and filing a lawsuit.
On the other hand, the company noted that it has developed all the facilities at the disposal of customers, both the private or public subscribers, without exception, and as a last solution, the company highlighted that it would resort to removing electricity and gas counters, before launching the judicial procedures, calling upon the indebted customers to go to its agencies, and post offices in order to pay their financial dues.
