South teachers’ pay set to rise by 60 percent in Algeria

Pay for public sector staff in south of Algeria such as teachers will rise by an average 60% with back pay from January 1st, 2012, the Prime Ministry confirmed.

“Prime Minster Abdelmalek Sellal approved the revision of south and high lands bonus. Allowance for civil servants in the south: Tamenrasset, Ilizi and Tindouf will be updated,” said an official letter sent to all concerned public institutions.

 

Pay for high school teachers will jump to more than 10,000 DZ and 60,000 for civil servants n the provinces of Ouargula, Bechar, El Oued, Laghouat and some municipalities in Djlfa and Biskra.

 

Civil servants in the provinces of Oum Bouagui, Batna, Msila, Tissemssilt, Khenchela and Souk Ahras will get 40% pay raise.

 

Echorouk has learnt that a joint ministerial commission will be set up at the Prime Ministry to prepare those draft laws as soon as possible. Thus, the government met civil service unions’ demand to update bonus for administrative staff in the south and high lands.
