Spanish ''Repsol'' to exploite the first field of shale gas in Algeria
Spanish energy company “Repsol” launced the negotiations with the Algerian government to exploit the first unconventional gas field “Shale Gas” in the south of Algeria, that was described huge, due to the annual production capacity, as the two parties reach an advanced stage of negotiations that will culminate soon with the signing of the deal.
Spanish New Agency ”EFE” quoted sources from the Spanish company “Repsol’ as saying that the Spanish company accepted the offer of the Algerian government to exploit the first modern gas field in Algeria, as the company introduced guarantees and offered their expertise to the Algerian government, as the production of the field is expected to reach more than 16.000 million cubic meters, and the Spanish company presented its expertise and capabilities in this area being the largest gas expert in “Shale Gas” in Latin America.
According to the same source,”Repsol” accepted the terms of the Algerian government to exploit the first field of shale gas in southern Algeria, and that in order to compensate their large losses in Latin America after it invested a lot of money in the field of the “dead cow”, but the President of Argentina withdrew the right of exploitation of the company Repsol, especially as it is the largest shale gas field, although it is the company which discovered shale gas there, indicating that the announcement of the deal will probably be in the next few months.
