State Council officially endorses last August’s FLN party central committee meeting

The State Council endorsed on Thursday the decision by the Algiers administrative chamber which had given the go-ahead to the holding on August 29th of the FLN party central committee meeting, the party’s lawyer, Hocine Kheldoun, announced today.

The FLN central committee meeting held at the conference hall of the Aurassi hotel in upper Algiers culminated in the election of Mr Amar Saadani, as the new party secretary general in replacement of ousted Abdellaziz Belkhadem.

This decision was however called into question by certain central committee members led by Abderrahmane Belayat who then decided to introduce an appeal at the level of the State Council, Mr Hocine Kheldoun explained.

Mr Abderrahmane Belayat refused for his part to comment the state council’s binding decision which is now expected to put an end to several months of internecine wrangling within the FLN Party.
