State of emergency in Algiers International airport after an unidentified phone call
Info services of the Algerian International Airport, Houari Boumediene received an unidentified phone call Monday at 10: am stating the existence of bombs inside the airport. The mysterious caller said, “Bombs will explode in few minutesâ€.

Security forces took this information seriously and declared a high state of emergency, preventing aircrafts from leaving and asking passengers to stay in their seats, all flights were delayed and passengers of the aircrafts which landed at the international airport were also ordered to stay inside the aircrafts.

Security authorities ordered their elements to evacuate all the passengers and staff from the airport leaving everything open so that they can launch inspection.

This incident raised a state of panic and terror among people in the airport, particularly when the police brought dogs trained to detect the smell of explosives and surrounded all the entrances and yards of the airport, ambulances were also brought in case of any unexpected explosion.

Security forces inspected luggage and cars using explosives-detection devices. After 45 minutes state of emergency they did not find any bomb that’s why they reopened all the outlets and allowed the pilots to start their work.

“What pushes the security forces to take it seriously was because the phone call by an unknown person coincides with the 11th which is the favourite date of the terrorist groups”, security sources from the International airport told Echorouk.
