The French Interior Ministry has decided to straighten out the pending situation of ten thousand more illegal immigrants including that of numerous undocumented Algerians who have already managed to secure a job during their illegal stay in France.

French Interior Minister Manuel Valls told local media outlets that such a legalizing operation targeting 10 thousand illegal immigrants now in France was the first of the kind and would be followed by similar endeavours before the end of the year.

Mr Manuel Valls indicated that the relevant French authorities were set to legalise the outstanding files of a total of 50 thousand illegal immigrants based in France before the end of 2013.

Under the former right-wing government of former President Sarkozy, only 10 thousand or so illegal migrants’ files were given a legal seal allowing undocumented immigrants to reunite with their family members on French territory.

With regard to the granting of French nationality to foreigners, with among the recipients a large number of Algerians, the rate has increased by 18% over the 10 past months of the year compared with the figures of 2012.

According to French foreign ministry sources, about one hundred thousand foreigners including thousands of Algerians have been granted the French nationality since the beginning of this year.
