Sudanese ambassador angry after official’s declarations

The Sudanese ambassador to Algiers Mohammed Hammed Al Feki was dismissive of the declarations made by the vet department manager at the health ministry Rachid Boukeddour who said that the Sudanese cattle was not healthy, thus not illegible to be imported for local the market.

  •
  • The ambassador was utterly upset by these sudden declarations considering them as blow to the good relationships which exist between the two countries.
  •
  • Mohammed Hammed Al Feki ha outrageously declared” We are disappointed by the declarations made by an official at the Algerian agriculture ministry over alleged diseases of the Sudanese cattle; as we are concerned, we herein state that our cattle are healthy and we consider those allegations as groundless”. He further added “ Go and ask the countries that import our products to know the truth”.
  •
  • In a previous declaration to Echourok, the ministry’s official has revealed that Sudanese cattle are contaminated by dangerous and contagious diseases like foot and mouth disease and Valleeri st fever which makes it impossible to import them for the time being.
  •
  • The Sudanese diplomat has expressed his astonishment to the Algerian official’s statement “ we have never heard about the diseases mentioned by this official in Sudan” putting forth the argument that millions of cattle are exported to Saudi Arabia, United Arabs Emirates and other Gulf countries.
  •
  • He has indicated that Sudan exports every year millions of sheep on the occasion of the pilgrimage ritual and has never registered a suspicious case so far or any observation from the Saudi authorities that impose very strict measures on the matter.
  •
  • The Sudanese ambassador has vehemently criticized the Algerian official’s declarations” The official could have been more reserved before making such declarations, because these accusations will impact on the relationships between Algiers and Khartum”
