Sugar kilo price set at DZD90, oil 5 liter tin's at DZD 600 late this week
ALGIERS- Sugar and oil prices will decline late this week to reach DZD 90 for a sugar kilogram and DZD600 for oil 5 liter tin, Minister of Commerce, Mustapha Benbada told Sunday the National Radio, while calling wholesalers to respect meeting these prices.
Lower prices of these two basic commodities that reached in recent days the thresholds of 130 dinars for a sugar kilogram and 160 dinars for a liter of edible oil, is the result of a dozen measures, taken Saturday by a Inter-ministerial Council, chaired by the Prime Minister, to curb rising prices of these products.
Benbada called wholesalers to follow this approach by ensuring they “will receive rebate checks from the producers” covering the price differential, while ensuring that producers will, in turn, “paid by the State.
” The Minister assured that the state “had the financial means to intervene when it comes to protecting consumers from exceptional soaring prices” and the State was even ready to “confront safely possible global food crisis.”
