Supreme Court to rule on 43 appeals

Well informed sources revealed that the Supreme Court will rule on the 43 appeals following sentences pronounced by the court of Blida (Algiers suburbs) in March 2006.

  • After two years of trial in the so called “ the century’s case” regarding the financial group “Al Khalifa”, the court cleared 51 individuals of all charges while sentences varying from 20 years to life have been pronounced against 11 convicts who are still at large in addition to the seizure of their properties.
  • Pending the Supreme Court’s follow up of the case, investigations are still underway regarding both “Khalifa Airlines” and “Swift” or money transfer abroad, in addition to a probe on the case of some personalities believed to be “untouchable” and linked to “Al Khalifa” scandal;
