Swine Flu : Five new deaths including a pregnant woman and a three months infant
Death toll related to influenza A/H1N1 grows heavy in Algeria as five new deaths Were registered DURIng the past week, inlcuding a pregnant woman and a three months infant, brniging the number of deaths to 47 and 746 confirmed cases, according to the Ministry of Health.

A 26-year-old man living in Mahmal, near Khenchla, east of Algeria, hospitalizeD for respiratory distress syndrom, and another 55-years-old residing in Boufarik, in Blida, west of Algiers, hospitalized for the same syndrom, died from the swine flu, the ministry said.

The other deaths have been recorded in Blida, West of Algiers. A 25-years-old woman suffering from esclampsia, a serious complication of pregnancy, who underwent cesarean and gave birth to a child. A 2-years-old boy, also hospitalized for respiratory distress syndrome, as well as a three months male infant, who was hospitalized for the same syndrom, all died after being infected with A/H1N1 virus.

Algeria received more than 1.3 million doses of vaccine against influenza A/H1N1, out of a total of 20 million recquired doses.

The vaccination campaign was launched Wednesday to cover 20 million people against swine flu, after testing the safety of The vaccine imported from Canada. The first people to take the shot are medical staff, pregnant women as their number is around 850.000, the ministry said.
