Syndicate of Municipal Guards prepares for the largest protest
National Syndicate of Municipal Guards decided to open a national class at its headquarters in Algiers aiming to organize and standardize their ranks and follow the outstanding demands of the agents of the municipal guards, and work to achieve short-and long-term goals, following the “breakthrough” of the authorities to this category, which led to its weakening and dispersing, in order not to reach a consensus on the future actions, either through mass rallies and peaceful protests, or through dealing with the government by opening the doors of dialogue.
The person in charge of media at the National Syndicate of Municipal Guards Aliouat Lahlou, told Echorouk, that the syndicate opened a national class at the headquarters of the Movement of Social Democracy, which is autonomous and composed of leaders and members of the Syndicate, in addition to lawyers and human rights activists to accompany the agents of the municipal guards in their “struggle” up to achieve all outstanding demands.
The spokesman added that after exposure of the municipal guards to penetration in their ranks by the authorities, it was decided after the last meeting, which brought together representatives from 36 Wilayas, held on 5 September, the opening of the maintenance of a national meeting to organize rows and unify efforts and work to achieve the objectives that were underlined, both in the short term or long terms, as well as to determine how to deal with the developments, especially the issue of exposing six elements of the municipal guards to firing in Boumerdes, eastern Algiers, not to mention the pressures that were practiced against them every day, as well as the file of retirees among municipal guards, especially in the absence of a body that is accredited to defend the pensioners of Municipal Guards similar to police, army and others.
