Syrian refugees implicated in recruiting Algerians to join “Jihad” in Syria

Trials in the case of youth who have been recruited to join the armed groups in Syria, in Algiers and Boumerdes courts, and others who have been interrogated in Sidi M’hamed pole court, pending their referral to the trial, reveal that the recruits did not have the ability to reach Syria, without the complicity of Syrians within the Algerian territory, and who live in Algeria as refugees, but they took advantage of it and started planting ideas of “Jihad” in the minds of some Algerian youth.

Recently, the Court of Boumerdes, eastern Algiers, announced final decision in a case of this kind, as the main defendant was a Syrian living in Algeria, and who is currently on the run named “A.A”, and who sought to recruit eight Algerians from M’sila, Algiers and Boumerdes, to join armed groups in Syria, in particular the organization of “Ansar al-Sham”, and he was convicted to life imprisonment in a while the rest of the accused were declared not guilty.

An investigation in the case was launched after the security services received information about a cell which activity is recruiting young Algerians to join the organization of “Ansar al-Sham” in Syria , led by a Syrian national, as he was attending to transport recruits to Syria via Turkey, because security services seized their passports which include visas of Turkey, but the accused denied, during their trial what was attributed to them, saying they were intending to go to Turkey for trade reasons.

Security services has recently dismantled several cells that have been seeking to recruit Algerians to join Jihad in Syria, while some youth from the Algerian South and Capital, succeeded to enter the Syrian territory.
