Talks on Al-Qaeda between US ambassador to Algeria and PM

U.S. ambassador in Algiers, Robert Ford, with the committee on foreign affairs chairman in the National People’s Council, Abdelhami Si Afifi talked on several issues notably the fight against terrorism and face “Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Magreb”’s threats, especially since Algeria is considered a pioneer in that field, which was already referred by the United States of America on several occasions and in the latest statements made by Condoleeza Rice, who praised the Algerian experience in combating terrorism and the efforts made by the Algerian army security services for 15 years against the phenomenon, Algeria was described as “ Loyal partner “ of the USA in the fight against terrorism. The two partners also presented at this meeting – according to a statement that Echorouk received a copy of it- from the media cell of the parliament, ways to promote cooperation between the two countries in many areas, including justice, and higher education.

• The American ambassador had said earlier that the Algerian-American cooperation in the judicial field is still in progress to strengthen relations between the two countries judicial branches. A delegation from the bar association and American judges already visited Algeria to exchange experiences with the ministry of justice tires concerning the preparation code of lawyers professions ethics line with reform programs approved by the  responsible ministry.
• Robert Ford also said that Algeria has benefited from the American judicial experience, which history dated back 300 years, by adopting the Algerian judges demand for specialization and amending the commercial code, where 17 judges benefited from the American formation in December of last year, and which was supervised by the President Of the Commercial and Bankruptcy Court in NeW York, which owns a vast experience in judicial files specialized in economic scandals, especially when New York is considered the Economic Capital in America.
• Regarding cooperation in the higher education field, Algeria had signed with the USA on cooperation protocol on the establishment of an American centre of Maghreb researches, which will be based in Oran and allow the development and researches promotion on the Maghreb region in various and promising fields such as; agriculture, exact and human sciences, as a new step to strengthen Algerian-American cooperation.
• Record parties upgrade developing the cooperation during recent years, especially in parliamentary field to strengthen relations between the two legislative institutions by “intensifying experiences and delegations exchange.
