A source from Tassili Airlines, which belongs to Sonatrach, told Echorouk that the public company suffers from a large deficit of 50 million dinars, adding that it becomes a helpless and bankrupt company, after it was successful, due to the loss of many transactions for the transfer of foreign clients who work for the oil companies in the Algeria‭ ‬desert ‭. ‬

The source, who preferred not to reveal his identity, asserted that the reason of this situation is the loss several deals, especially those which were concluded with several foreign private companies, such as British Petroleum “BP”, which opens the door for private companies to ensured the transfer of its workers, like “Air Express” and “Star Aviation”. ‬

Same source explained that the company’s difficult position is due to the defects in its aircrafts, which are not repaired in a timely manner, revealing that four aircrafts type “K 400” are parked in the maintenance for 10 months, and no one moves to contain the situation, as one plane costs $26 million, wondering about such neglect which pushed the company to face more deficit and loss.

Regarding the projects that were revealed by the Directorate of the company about opening new lines to the public in the country and abroad, the source said, “This project is a dream that is not realized and its incarnation remains elusive. The current status of the company does not allow the transfer of the staff and workers of Sonatrach, so how can it exceed that ‭and ensure internal and external flights to its clients‮”‭.‬
