Tayeb Belaiz: “Presidential elections to be held on official date”
Electoral Body will be summoned during the first days of the second half of the current January, immediately after the issuance of the Presidential Decree, which means that the Presidential Elections will be held in the formal and legal date, State and Interior Minister, Tayeb Belaiz said during a press conference in Algiers, along with Algiers Governor, Abdelkader Zoukh.
“Procedures and the potential that will be received by the center of the bio-metric passport will be doubled soon, in order to reach the issuance of 18,000 passports per day in order to enable its generalization nationally by the end of December 2014.
Following the Minister’s inspection visit to some of Algiers’ administrative departments to check out the public service and the extent of the application of the instructions to be improved because the International Convention of Aviation which Algeria signed, imposed the bio metric passport from November 2015, which forced the government to rush in order to complete the process before the deadline to provide all human and material resources to double the work.
Belaiz sent instructions to issue 18,000 bio metric passports every day after the number did not exceed more than 6,000 at the present moment. As it has been underlined a training program which includes officials from the Interior Ministry to the municipality for learning English and IT as by the end of the year.
Asked about the events of Ghardaia (southern Algeria), the Interior Minister said that his ministry is following developments in the region, as he sent the Secretary-General of the Ministry, who is there since a week ago, assigned to communicate with elders of the region and its youth to follow all the developments, pointing to the return of calm to the region, and the opening of 75% of shops out of 2200 shops which mostly send food, vegetables and fruits, but some shops remained closed, including shops for selling cloths and others, where the owners ask for providing security for them.
As for the issue of the study resumption, the minister stressed that it was launched in the first and second day after returning from the holiday by 80%, as the rest remain determined to boycott schools after the parents insisted on the need to provide security for their children.
