Tebboune: « All Algerians with no exception have a right to decent housing »

In an exclusive declaration to Echorouk on Sunday, the minister of housing and town planning, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has said that all needy Algerians with no exception have a legitimate right to acquire decent housing with the backing of the relevant state institutions.

The minister stressed that contrary to certain reports, his ministerial department had no intention of removing from the lists those single new housing seekers as part of the AADL or public promotional housing programs which are being “rejuvenated and updated” by the services concerned, as he put it.

Mr Tebboune added nobody would be scrapped from the lists including unmarried persons as long as their application files were well in keeping with the relevant laws and regulations.

“The submission online of these application files by all those eager to acquire new promotional housing was slated for Monday morning September 16th”, he asserted.

“Even young people, provided they have a regular monthly income or salary, can vie for this new promotional housing scheme”, Mr Tebboune added.

However, the housing minister pointed out that his department had taken stringent measures regarding the thorough and exhaustive study by ad-hoc commissions of all the application files, adding however that any person involved in the forgery of relevant documents would see his or her file scrapped and would also be liable to prosecution through justice.

Mr Abdelmadjid Tebboune also told Echorouk that the level of the monthly income garnered by applicants would also be taken into account in the AADL or public promotional housing schemes, stressing that citizens garnering less than 24 thousand dinars per month for instance wouldn’t be included in this program.

“The latter’s application files should be conveyed instead to those services concerned by social housing”, the minister explained.
