The Algerian interior ministry gave an instruction to all the administrative districts to deliver renewable driving coupons valid for three months as the government plans to issue a new driving license after it had banned licenses based on scores.

According to sources, most of the administrative districts stopped delivering driving licenses and started implementing the instruction of the interior minister Taib Belaiz.

This comes as former minister Amar Ghoul banned driving licenses based on scores until issuing a final decision due to the high number of traffic accidents in Algeria.

Algeria’s official printing house stopped printing driving licenses based on scores. That caused problems to most of the administrative districts, the police and the National Gendarmerie.

An official said the instruction did not mention new measures about the new driving license.
