Terrorism: Imam and nightclub singer implicated in joining a terrorist group and creating a backup cell get prison sentences in Algiers

Judge of Algiers criminal court pronounced in a late hour on Tuesday evening the first sentence against the Imam Malek Ibn Nabi in Algiers along with four people on charges of joining a terrorist group which created terror and insecurity among the population.

 

“B.T” Imam and preacher in Algiers was sentenced to three years in prison, the accused “B.A” a musician and singer in a nightclub gets five year in prison on charges of recruiting youngsters in terrorist groups in Boumerdes, east of Algiers, for receiving money.

 

 

Same court sentenced the accused “S.Y” to four year in prison because he joined a terrorist group then run and had a relation with the terrorist “W.A” who is still running, while the accused “S.L” and “B.H” from Algiers were sentenced to three years in prison.

 

The case reveals that the main accused, who works as an Imam in Malek Ibn Nabi in Algiers was also working for terrorist groups as a backup cell for “Al Fath” battalion under the surname of “Abou Khaithama”.

 

“Al Fatah” battalion planed to carry out suicide attacks in order to prove existence, and the Imam’s role was providing information and coordination between terrorists, but was arrested on November 2008 after intensive investigations by the Algerian security services, along with members of his back up cell, however, they denied their relationship with the terrorist group during the trial.
