Terrorist leader ready to surrender to Algerian authorities

The lawyer of the terrorist leader, Mokhtar Belmokhtar”Al Aouar” alias“Abu Abbas” declared that this one is ready to surrender to the Algerian authorities along with 15 of his acolytes, but asks the relevant authorities to speed up the judicial measures because the terrorist is under legal actions, on one hand and threatened by the so called “Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb “in the other hand.

In a declaration to “Echourouk “ M. Laroui, added that the terrorist decided to surrender two years ago as part of the national peace and reconciliation policy initiated by the Algerian president Abdelaziz Bouteflika. The first negotiations started with the terrorist’s parents through a mediator close to the family, who lost confidence following the very hard social conditions they went through all these years.

Al Hadj Bettou plays the mediator 

The prominent southern personality, Al Hadj Bettou, who spent his own money to play the mediator in the negotiations, has transported the terrorist’s father in his own car from Ghardaia to Tamanrasset for a first meeting between the two.

During this meeting the father, who spent 5 hours with his son, gave him a letter sent by his lawyer containing the a thorough judicial study of the national peace and reconciliation measures. The terrorist showed a “positive feedback” before living his father at dawn.

According to the lawyer, the second attempt was much more fruitful, when the terrorist’s mother, who spent the night with her son, accompanied by his brother and brought a second letter to start a second round of negotiations with the authorities led by Al Hadj Bettou this time around.

The lawyer didn’t give details about the nature of the negotiations in order not to disturb the process adding that Al Hadj Bettou has spent weeks with Belmokhtar and still with him.
