Two Algerian teachers and eight policemen assassinated Monday evening at about 5 pm in Boumerdes.

• The policemen belong to the judicial police of Yesser, Boumerdes, east of Algiers, and Boukedire in Chlef, west of Algeria, who were recruited in the context of combating terrorism.

• Two of them were slaughtered and the others were burned on board of their car type “Kia” by terrorists who stole their arms.

• Identical sources said a terrorist group prepared an ambush for a security convoy brining exam papers to Timezrit. A driver and the head of the exam centre as well as two teachers were on board of a Toyota, followed by the police car to provide security.

• Three land mines were detonated along their way in the place called Tamassat, the same place that witnessed explosion of the a landmine targeting the police patrol during the presidential elections of last April killing two policemen.

• The policemen’s car derailed and the terrorists started shooting them from different directions, indicating their spread in at various points, the terrorists surrounded the convoy before shooting again all the passengers and setting fire in the car in order to burn their victims.

• People who were killed are Khellafi Mesaoud, father of four kids and sub-director in Dar El Baida formation centre, east of Algiers, and Beghdadi Abderrahmane, controller in a formation centre in Algiers who is also father of four kids, while head of the exam centre and the driver are in the hospital, after escaping following movement of security forces to the scene.

• Security forces arrived and clashes started in order to surround the terrorist group and all the outlets were cordoned off by the army which launched a combing operation supported by an air bombardment on shelters were terrorist hide.

• This is the most violent terrorist attack in Boumerdes following a relative calm on the backgrounds of intensive and continuing military operations

• “The attack was carried out by several terrorists belonging to several sub-battalions such as “Al Ansar” led by the so called “Al Akrouche El Bay” also known as “Al Farmache” and “Abou Salam” leader of “Timezrit” sub-battalion”, security sources say.

• Some sources said Al Farmache was appointed leader of Al Ansar sub-battalion after the former leader Ali Ben Touati (Amine Abou Tamim) surrendered to the security forces.

• Al Farmache may have been recruited remnants of Timezrit sub-battalion and Isser to implement this attack, according to some terrorists who were recruited in these sub-battalions.

• This attack comes after the appointment of a new commander for the GSPC or AQIM terrorist attacks, as previously published in Echorouk, reflecting the terrorist group’s new strategy of escalation, particularly in light of seizing arms of their victims in order to carry out terrorist attacks in false check points after being unable to carry out attacks using explosives.

• The terrorist attack also comes a week after the assassination of 8 soldiers in a terrorist ambush in Biskra, east of Algeria, as some observers to the security matter in Algeria include this escalation in the terrorist group’s attempt to expand the map of its criminal activities after a series of military operations and to lift the siege and morale of its followers.

• Other observers think that this escalation carried a traditional message to the Algerian authorities including refusing any help by government or any peace initiative, however, these terrorist attacks come in light of the internal conflicts of the terrorist group particularly at the command level because leaders of the centre and eastern regions try to dominate and influence the other leader through implementing the deadliest attacks which adopt the GIA’s strategy through killing civilians.
