The 142 thousand protesters can’t be granted ADL houses in Algiers, Minister says

Housing Minister, Nouredine Moussa, said on Saturday that the protesters claiming to get flats among the rent for sale ADL form have to calm down and cooperate positively with authorities to reach a consensus over the issue.

• Mr Moussa told Echorouk that it is impossible for authorities to respond to protesters claim, because there is not enough space to construct as much as 142 thousand flats in Algiers. The minister called on protesters to be patient and cooperate positively with authorities. He said the government has already proposed to take care of 8 thousand demands, but the protester rejected it, claiming that all of them should get a house at the same time.
• It is worth to mention that the aforementioned protesters have submitted their demands to ADL housing agency in Algiers. They have been waiting since 2001, but they still have not been attributed their promised houses. Some people, who submitted demand later on, have been attributed houses.
• On another side, Housing Minister specified that the government’s two five-year programmes include constructing 1 million houses, which have been distributed gradually.
• He concluded that the majority of rent- for-sale and participative form houses, so far, have been attributed to youngsters.
