The Algerian people's message to the Greens: “Make the Pharaohs bite the dust for having disparaged our glorious Martyrs”
A few days ahead of the kick off of the 27th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations football tournament, now taking place in Angola, we asked numerous citizens about the Greens' participation in this African competition. All of them told Echorouk reporters that they wished to see an Algeria – Egypt semi-final match in this major African contest and secure a brilliant victory in order to prove to the whole world that Algeria's recent qualification for the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa was well-deserved and highly meritorious in spite of the Egyptians' hopeless expostulations and bitter recriminations.

This wish has now been fulfilled and Thursday’s semi-final match between Algeria and Egypt as part of the Africa Cup of Nations’ tournament is eagerly awaited by the entire Algerian people as it will be a make – or – break confrontation for the two rival squads.
-
The Algerians yearn for a new clear – cut victory in Benguela over the Egyptians in all fair – play and sportsmanship similar to that clinched last November in the Khartoum decisive World Cup qualifier so as to demonstrate to all and sundry the high footballing capacities of the Algeria line-up which has now become a towering squad in the African continent, according to many fair-minded sports analysts on the international scene.
-
Furthermore, the Algerians are not prone to forget or to forgive the vile insults flung at them by low-down Egyptians who shamelessly denigrated the sacred symbols of Algeria and its lofty Martyrs.
-
The shock was intense on the Algerian side when numerous news media outlets published the pictures of the Algerian flag burnt publicly by pseudo Egyptian intellectuals without overlooking the horrendous fate suffered by many female Algerian students who were callously raped in Egypt in the aftermath of the Khartoum play-off match won with flying colours by Algeria.

All the Algerian fans agreed to say that an Algerian win in Thursday’s semi-final confrontation versus Egypt slated for 20 hours 30 mn local time in Benguela stadium, would be tantamount to a sizzling dressing-down given to the spiteful Egyptians whose blameworthy smear campaign against a respectful and dignified Algeria, remains glaringly a fly in the Egyptians’ ointment.
