The annual losses of the traffic accidents exceed 24.000 deaths and $5.1 billion
The company « Monro » launched Sunday a national campaign to control the air bags of individual and collective vehicles in the northern towns of Algeria, as an initial stage, before transferring the process to the highlands and southern regions, in the framework of a national campaign to reduce the traffic accidents that left 4200 dead and 60.000 injured in 2008, as well as large material damages which exceeded $5.1 billion for the first time.

The General Director of Monro Algiers, Mounir Ait Issa told Echorouk that the technical tests that were carried out by the company on various types of individual and collective vehicles in Algiers in an initial step showed that more than 60% of the individual cars are threatened with dangerous traffic accidents due to the poor quality of the air bags.

“The Algerian drivers do not give enough importance to the quality of their cars’ spare parts is the main cause of the traffic accidents which exceeded 50.000 per year”, he added.
