The burial of a Christian in an Islamic cemetery sparks controversy among population
The burial last week in a Muslim cemetery of one of the evangelists who was operating in the Christian church located in the compound of “Bozevile†in the region of Ain Turk the province of Oran (western Algeria) has sparked a wave of controversy among the Muslim community, reliable sources revealed.

The news has outraged the local inhabitants who considered as a sacrilege and an offence to their religious believes. Neither the Islamic law nor the Algerian legislation allows the burial of non Muslim individuals in the Islamic cemeteries.

The man was one of the most zealous evangelists in the area known among the population for his campaign to convert the youngsters to the Christian religious, using leaflets and bibles openly. He was among the staff of the church “Hope’s House” located in the compound of “Bozeville”.

The man who was married to a Muslim woman died in mysterious circumstances. Those who knew him among the population asserted that he hanged himself, but his relatives brought the corps to the nearest mosque to pray on his soul and burry him according to the Islamic rituals.

After the refusal of the mosque’s staff to perform the prayer, the family resorted to move the body to “Sidi Bou Amer” cemetery and proceeded to the burial rituals on spot.

It should be noted that the region of “Ain Turk” witnesses an alarming campaign of evangelisation over the past years, conducted by fresh recruits paid and housed by the church’s staff in order to convert the youngsters to Christian religion.
