The Multilateral Investments Guarantee Agency : Algeria ranks first among African and Arab counties: Foreign investments reach $2.31b
Algeria ranked first among Arab and North African countries in terms of foreign direct investment inflows, reaching $2.31b during 2009, according to the latest World Bank reports, issued on Thursday “Investments in the world and political risksâ€.
The Multilateral Investments Guarantee Agency, belonging to the World Bank group and promotion of private sector explained in its report for 2010 that foreign investments in Algeria noticed a significant increase between 2002 and 2009, reaching $1.07b in 2002 and $630b in 2003, $880b in 2004, $1.08b in 2006, $1.66b in 2007, $2.65b in 2008 and $2.31b in 2009.
At the global level, the total value of foreign direct investments reaches $1085b in 2009 (compared to $738b in 2002). Developed countries got the largest share through allocating $731b for foreign investments, compared to $354b in developing countries.
