The widow of a terrorist leader relates her excruciating ordeal in the mountains to “Echorouk”

This hapless woman, who is claiming her legitimate rights, relates in a poignant testimony to “Echorouk” newspaper how she was abducted by GIA terrorists from her family house in the districts if Bachdjarah on the eastern outskirts of Algiers, towards the mountains in the mid 90's as she was only aged 16.

  • She says she was taken by force by about 15 terrorists who broke into her family house, threatening her parents with death if she refused to follow them or she attempted to alert the local security services.
  • Facing this heinous blackmail, she was taken by her abductors to a villa located in the Kalitous district in suburban Algiers where she spent several months among GIA terrorists under stringent surveillance.
  • Afterwards she was “married” against her will to an Emir of the GIA who ordered her secret transfer towards the mountains where she sustained a horrendous ordeal among the terrorist hordes.
  • She said, to this effect, that these terrorist groups rejoiced for long hours in the bush after committing odious massacres and did not waver to take drugs at will which made them careless and insensitive to the sufferings of others.
  • After 19 months of an appalling life in the mountainous hide – outs, she fell sick as she was pregnant.
  • She was then transported by several terrorists who dumped her callously in the Oued Ouchaih forest in a critical health condition.
  • She succeeded, against all odds, in joining on foot late at night her family house from where she was immediately taken to hospital for an emergency birth delivery.
  • She gave birth to a baby son, who has now reached the age of 13.
  • The terrorist leader with whom she was married under coercion was, for his part, shot dead together with 2 of his henchmen in a combing operation conducted in 1996 by security forces in the Bachdjarah district.
  • This unfortunate woman, who is now facing a dismal social situation, has been demanding the status of a terrorism victim but, so far, to no avail as the relevant authorities require from her irrefutable evidence of her abduction by the terrorist groups.
  • However, she said that she was more than ever determined to prove her good faith in order to retrieve her legitimate rights and thereby live in dignity and ensure her studious son, now 13, a promising future like the rest of other more fortunate youngsters.
