Thierry Meyssan is the most prominent opposition journalist for the official American version of the 11 September events, as he wrote his famous book after the terrorist attacks “The big Lie”. He proved by evidence that what happened on the “Black Tuesday” is a military coup in America that enabled the neo-conservative takeover of the U.S decision, and Al Qaeda has nothing to do with these attacks, either closer or from afar.

• -After eight years of the famous 11 September events, the experts and specialists are increasingly skeptical of the U.S official version. You were a forerunner to the conviction of this government’s version in your book “The big lie”, as you have called for the truth in this case, when you were discordant…however many experts today support your theory. How the American version did lost credibility?

• Thierry Meyssan: The U.S government lost credibility in 2001; after the scandal of Colin Powell who lied publicly before the Security Council of the UN, then was the turn of George W. Bush who invented the “weapons of mass destruction possessed by Iraq”. It is reasonable that the public opinion ask about other possible lies. In the wake of the 11 September attacks, all the U.S agencies spoke about details of the event which were provided by the American officials, and when I analyzed these news I discovered that they are contradictory, however, I was the only in confronting them. In 2004, President Bush appointed, under the pressure by the victims’ families, a commission of investigation; with the duty -of course- to adopt the statement of the president, since it meant that it can’t combine the contradictions from the official version, it ignored everything that might cause a problem in the report. The emotional trauma that was cause by the attacks had subsided with the time, and this makes the discussion of what happened today easier than yesterday, which means asking a question on the official version.

• -according to your reportages and a number of studies about the attacks, what happened on Tuesday, September 11?

• *T.M: Our memory is selective… We remember this event or the other on that day; however, we have forgotten a lot of important data. We all remember that two planes targeted the World Trade Center, and a third one exploded in the air in Pennsylvania, and that there was an explosion in the Pentagon as well as the scene of the collapse of the towers. However, we forget too often that the experts bet days before the incident on the decline of the airline and insurance, and forget that a fire broke out and destroyed a part of the White House, and that White House has already received a call from the attackers who used presidential codes, and that a third tower collapsed in the World Trade Centre (despite it was not attacked), and that Israel closed all its embassies, and the Services of the American Intelligences deployed special forces in order to prevent an air attack on Washington, and that the U.S. navy put two aircraft ships in order to prevent a sea invasion off the coasts of Washington. These attacks were based on the internal confrontations between the American policymakers, it was a form of coup d’état. Since that date, the U.S. President George Walker Bush became just a puppet in the hands of a bunch of businessmen and military personnel.

• – What about al Qaeda, which adopted these attacks?
• * T.M: The idea that about 20 radicals caused such losses in the most powerful country is a scenario that can be more suitable to the American movies, it’s unreal, and if this is true, the regular armies have no longer important… This is a children’s story.

•  –Al Qaeda remains a mystery in terms of its establishment, funding and objectives, as well as its spread in the Muslim World. Do you think there is a relationship between the U.S.A and particularly the intelligence agencies and Al Qaeda?

• *T.M: Osama Ben Laden was a businessman, and was recruited in 1977 for the CIA and was sent to Afghanistan in order to support the right-wing opposition against the leftist government. After the Soviets responded to the provocations by providing support to the Afghan government, Ben Laden was presented as a Saudi businessman and give up everything to fight the Red army, and was then a member of the World Association of anti-communist organization along with many pro-American dictators. When the Soviets left Afghanistan in 1990, Ben Laden found himself in charge of a new mission: the exploitation of the ancient Arab fighters in Afghanistan to carry out operations which aimed at destabilizing other countries under the orders of the Saudi prince Bandar, however, the Moudjahidine (fighters) fought the Red Army in order to defend the land of Islam and not to serve the interests of the United States, and they ready for new adventures, if the goal was noble, and not to serve the interests of the Emir Bandar and the Saudi royal family. At that time, Ben Laden adopted the principle of resisting the West and Zionism; but did not stop working as a CIA and Bandar’s agent.

• We must recall that the relationship between those men was intimate, as Salim Ben Laden, the brother of Osam, was the partner of George W.Bush in Huston (Texas) in the oil company “Harkin”. The family of Ben Laden also established the company of “Carlyle” along with the Bushes, while Bender has become like the adoptive son of the father George Bush, as he called him   “Bandar Bush”. However, Osma Ben Laden was not in good health, and was hospitalized several times for kidney dialysis before disappeared on October 2001, and since that date he begun recording fabricated and rude video tapes, as demonstrated by the Swiss Foundation “Dell Mall”, the highest international body in verifying the audio and video tapes.

•  – Al Qaeda is succeeding in the Islamic countries such as Algeria, Saudi Arabia and Iraq, while it carries the theme of “Protecting the Land of Islam from the Western crusade”. Don’t you think that Al Qaeda in inviting the U.S. forces to intervene directly in these countries?

• * T.M: Al Qaeda is not a structured organization, but it is a signing used in carrying out military operations by agents. In the area of illegal operations, we do not judge people o, their principles and beliefs, but on their actions. This signing has been exploited to undermine the stability of many countries, except Israel, or seeking to free the occupied Palestine.
